What an enhancement is
One machine polishing stage over the whole car, with a light pad and a finishing polish. It takes out the lightest swirls and wash marks, softens the rest, and brings back the depth that dull paint loses.
It is the sensible middle between a wash and a full correction: a day rather than three, and a few hundred pounds rather than four figures.
On most cars it removes somewhere between half and three quarters of what you can see, and the paint goes from flat to wet-looking. What it cannot reach, we will point out on the test panel rather than leave you to find it in the sun.
What it will not do
It will not remove deep scratches, the ones you can feel with a fingernail, and it will not take out heavy swirling on neglected black paint. Those need multi-stage correction, and we will say so before you book rather than after.
It also cannot fix failing lacquer or stone chips. Nothing polished can.
We would rather turn the job down than take your money for a result you will not be happy with. If the car needs correction, you will hear that on the phone, with a price, before anything is booked.
Who it suits
Cars that are two or three years old and have been washed reasonably. New cars with dealer swirls. Cars being sold, where the money is better spent on a quick lift than a full correction. Cars on a coating that has aged and needs freshening before it is re-coated.
It also suits lighter colours, where swirls hide anyway and the gain is mostly gloss. Black and dark blue cars show everything, so on those we are honest about whether one stage is enough before you book.
What happens afterwards
Every enhancement leaves with a sealant, good for about three months, and a care guide. Most customers either move onto the maintenance round or upgrade to a coating at that point, because keeping the finish is cheaper than buying it twice.
How an enhancement runs
Five steps, the same on every car.
- 01
Measure
Paint depth readings across the car, so we know how much lacquer there is and where to stay light.
- 02
Wash and decontaminate
A safe wash, iron fallout remover and clay, so nothing is dragged across the paint by the pad.
- 03
Test panel
One panel polished first and shown to you, so you can see exactly what one stage will and will not do.
- 04
One machine stage
A light cut and finish across every painted panel, checked under the inspection lights as we go.
- 05
Seal and hand over
Panels wiped clean of oils, a sealant applied, then photographs and the care guide.
What would it cost for your car?
Three answers. The figure you get is not a formula — it is what we actually charged on the jobs in our own book that match yours.
Typically £865, across 4 jobs in our book.
Paint correction
Depth readings first, then two or three stages until the paint is right.
Every figure here is what we actually charged for work like yours. Yours is confirmed on the paint, with depth readings, before anything is booked.

Enhancement questions
Mostly about where the line sits between this and correction.
How is this different from correction?
Correction is two or more machine stages aimed at removing defects. An enhancement is one stage aimed at gloss. Correction takes days and takes more lacquer; an enhancement takes a day and takes very little.
Will my swirls come back?
The ones we removed are gone for good. New ones come from washing, which is why every car leaves with a care guide and most customers join the maintenance round.
Can I upgrade partway?
Yes. The test panel usually decides it. If one stage is not getting where you want, we will quote the extra stage before going further, never after.
Is it safe on thin paint?
That is what the depth readings are for. If a panel is thin or resprayed, we polish it more gently or leave it, and you are told which before we start.
How long will you have the car?
One day for most cars. Drop off in the morning, collect the same evening, or the next morning if we are adding a coating so it can cure overnight.
Should I coat it afterwards?
If you want the finish to last, yes. Freshly polished paint is the right moment, and it saves paying for the preparation twice.
