Terms and conditions

These are the terms Arclight Detailing works to. They apply to quotations, bookings and all work carried out at our unit or at your address.

Who these terms are with

Arclight Detailing, of Unit 7, Kestrel Court, off Hookstone Road, Harrogate, referred to below as we or us. You are the customer, the person who books the work and is responsible for paying for it.

By booking work with us you accept these terms. If anything in them is unclear, ask before you book and we will explain it.

Quotations

A quotation given from photographs or a description is an estimate, not a fixed price. The firm price is given once we have seen the vehicle in person, inspected the paint under our lights and, where relevant, taken paint depth readings.

Where the condition of a vehicle turns out to be materially different from what was described, we will tell you before we continue, give you a revised price, and wait for your agreement. We will never carry out extra chargeable work without asking first.

Quotations are valid for thirty days unless we say otherwise.

Bookings and deposits

A booking is confirmed when we have agreed a date with you and, where one is asked for, received a deposit. Deposits are usually taken for correction, coating and film work, which reserve a bay for a fixed number of days.

A deposit is deducted from the final invoice. It is refundable if you cancel with more than seven days' notice, and is otherwise held against the slot we have kept for you.

If we have to move your booking, for example because a previous car needs longer or because of illness, we will give you as much notice as we can and offer the next available slot, or a full refund of any deposit.

Your vehicle while it is with us

We are insured to carry your vehicle on the road and to keep it at our unit. Vehicles are kept inside the bay overnight, behind a locked door, in a unit that is alarmed and covered by recorded cameras. Keys are held in a locked safe.

Please remove valuables and personal items before you leave the car. We are not responsible for items left in a vehicle.

You must tell us about anything we need to know to move or work on the car safely, including faults, non-standard alarms or immobilisers, aftermarket paint or wrap, and any previous repairs or respray work.

The work we carry out

We will carry out the work described in your quotation with reasonable care and skill, using products suitable for the vehicle.

Paint correction removes defects by levelling the clear coat around them. It cannot remove defects that are deeper than the clear coat, and it cannot put back paint that is already too thin. Where a panel is thin, resprayed or otherwise unsuitable, we will correct it conservatively or not at all, and we will tell you which panels those are.

Coatings and films protect against certain kinds of damage, not all of it. Neither prevents impact damage such as dents, and no coating prevents stone chips. We will always tell you what a product will not do before you buy it.

Where we consider that the result you want is not achievable on your vehicle, we will say so and decline the work rather than take payment for it.

Warranties

Coating and film warranties are provided by the manufacturer of the product, registered against your vehicle, and are subject to the manufacturer's conditions. Those normally include washing the vehicle correctly and presenting it for inspection at set intervals.

Our own work is warranted against defects in workmanship for twelve months. That does not cover new damage, fair wear, damage caused by improper washing, automatic brush washes, accidents, or work carried out by others.

If you think something is wrong with our work, tell us within a reasonable time and give us the opportunity to inspect it. Where a defect is ours, we will put it right at our cost.

Payment

Payment is due on collection or completion unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. We accept bank transfer and card. We do not release a vehicle until payment has cleared.

Prices shown on this website are guides. The price that applies is the one in your written quotation.

Where an invoice remains unpaid, we may charge interest and reasonable costs of recovery as allowed by law.

Cancellations and changes

You may cancel or move a booking by telling us as soon as possible. With more than seven days' notice, any deposit is refunded in full. With less, we may keep the deposit to cover the slot.

If you do not present the vehicle on the agreed date and have not told us, we may treat the booking as cancelled.

Where you are a consumer booking at a distance, your statutory cancellation rights apply. If you ask us to start work within the cancellation period, you may owe us for work already carried out.

Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Subject to that, our liability for any claim connected with the work is limited to the amount you paid us for that work, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of use, hire costs or loss of value.

We are not liable for pre-existing defects that our work reveals rather than causes, including failing lacquer, previous poor repairs, or damage hidden by filler or heavy polish.

Complaints and law

If something has gone wrong, contact us on 0113 496 0721 or at hello@arclightdetailing.co.uk. We will respond within five working days and aim to resolve matters quickly and in person.
